Happiness is ... a JR4 tearing through an octobonnie ...

- 1 minutes read - 148 wordsThis is a very stressful benchmark for a server. A single bonnie++ run can generate user loads of 3-5 depending upon system configuration. And bonnie++ wants … no … insists on using 2x ram per run. So even if you run 8 at a time … and have, lets say … I dunno … 128 GB ram … 2x RAM is 256GB. 8 of these is about 2TB of space. Sure enough …
[root@jr4 ~]# df -h
Filesystem Size Used Avail Use% Mounted on
/dev/sdc3 58G 6.1G 49G 11% /
/dev/sdc1 418M 28M 369M 7% /boot
tmpfs 56G 0 56G 0% /dev/shm
/dev/md0 17T 2.3T 15T 14% /data
And 8 going at once has driven the user load to about 18 and change. vmstat shows about 18 IO’s typically blocked. Most of the ram is in use … This is a brutal test. I am enjoying watching it.
