back from my Texas trek and assorted bits

I am starting to get concerned that hosting providers may not have the capability to work on machines beyond the level of popping out failed disks and replacing them. They appear to not be able to provide the level of service that our customer assured us that they could provide. Went down there and saw some terrible things done to some power connectors. Which, unfortunately, explained why SSDs would suddenly drop on this machine with nary a reason. Then onto an academic customer to finish the last SSD swapout. I can’t tell you how satisfying this was. Put the new drive on a USB, start the MD mirror, 20 minutes later rip out the old Corsair, put in the new drive, and box er up.
