I know, I know, I really should wait until the drive build is done. I know I should do that.
[root@Mj?lnir ~]# df -h
Filesystem Size Used Avail Use% Mounted on
/dev/md0 89G 6.8G 77G 9% /
tmpfs 127G 0 127G 0% /dev/shm
/dev/sdc 48T 393G 47T 1% /data/3
/dev/sdb 48T 395G 47T 1% /data/2
/dev/sdd 33T 367G 33T 2% /data/4
/dev/sda 48T 374G 47T 1% /data/1
I called it Mj?lnir, as I liked this quote:
Mj?lnir is depicted in Norse mythology as one of the most fearsome weapons, capable of leveling mountains.
(or as I like to think of it)
… of data.
But I gotta know. How fast can this system run?
Start up our 1TB write. This is simply streaming 1TB of data out to the drives. Thats it. Only a file system. Simple stream. Uncached. So this is really … really streaming.
And its being burdened by the volume build. So we aren’t at maximum speed.
Light up fio with our test, and …
… start up dstat in another window, give it some time, and then …

Yeah, its like that.
Imagine what this baby could do when its done with the build.
Imagine.
I’ll try to show you in a few hours.
